In this key role within the AlixPartners' Marketing team, you will develop and deliver marketing activities for the firm's world-leading Performance and Technology (P&T) practice. Success is when more clients know us and consider us for complex consulting projects. Your primary focus is helping our ~20 practice leaders grow the business by building recognition and nurturing new and existing relationships. We are looking for an accomplished, credible, and commercially focused professional to deliver targeted, tailored, and sophisticated marketing strategies and campaigns with global application. You will serve as a strategic thought partner to the P&T consulting team, helping to shape the overall go-to-market strategy as well as leading and overseeing the delivery of P&T marketing activities.

The Business Marketing Director is a full-time role reporting to the Head of Business Marketing, with significant interaction with the leadership of the newly created P&T Practice team. The role is based in the New York office and will require occasional travel, including international. Paid relocation is not available.

  • Strategize with P&T global leadership to recommend, construct, and deliver marketing strategies and activities which reflect the practice's growth ambitions and go-to-market approach. You will sit on the P&T leadership team, participate in meetings, and interact 1:1 with senior leaders. They will look to you to bring ideas and expertise on how to best market the practice, including alignment of offerings across the two separate practices to greater leverage our market opportunities
  • Identify, size, and prioritize target audiences in partnership with the leadership team and Business Intelligence Center, providing insights into likely buyer motivations and personae
  • Track and analyze competitors, identifying opportunities for AlixPartners to stand out and deliver differentiated messages
  • Partner with other AlixPartners marketing resources (corporate marketing, media relations, content, events, business intelligence / research and digital teams) to develop content and deliver highly integrated and focused marketing campaigns that move the needle on target buyer awareness, consideration, and engagement
  • Lead the annual marketing planning process, working with practice leaders, Business and Corporate Marketing, to align growth priorities with P&T marketing investment and ROI targets
  • Create an annual P&T marketing plan, ensuring the scheduling of activities provides ongoing opportunities to build the level of engagement with the market
  • Design and manage a full set of marketing/BD collateral, ensuring consistency across P&T sectors, compliance with the firm-wide band, and tailored buyer/sector messaging where appropriate
  • Ensure the practice's online presence in proprietary and third-party channels is up-to-date, dynamic, and projecting the full weight of the P&T offerings
  • Track and monitor relevant marketing/funnel/pipeline KPIs, relating marketing inputs to business outcomes, providing insights on winning practices and recommending course-corrections as necessary
  • Identify and deliver the correct blend of emphasis on promoting practice area (core technical disciplines), people (individual SMEs) and product (specific solution offerings) within the overall marketing agenda
  • Work alongside our commercial partnerships team for co-marketing of strategic partnerships and alliances, ensuring that AlixPartners secures maximum marketing exposure from the relationship
  • Build the AlixPartners brand in the P&T space by amplifying the practice's technical and industry expertise using experiences, successes, and case studies
  • Provide strategic input to the firm's corporate marketing team, identifying opportunities to amplify the P&T team's position within the Firm's wider marketing agenda
  • Operate cross-border to ensure global and local priorities/activities are clearly understood, consistent, and visible
  • Coach senior consulting leaders on how to build and promote their personal brands, how to write effective marketing briefs, and how to create the right client messaging
  • Manage, mentor, and develop a small industry sector marketing team, setting performance and development goals in line with firm marketing and industry priorities and providing performance coaching and feedback to build the individual's contribution to P&T and AlixPartners' marketing community

What You'll Need

  • Minimum ten (10) years' experience with at least seven (7) in B2B marketing
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Experience within an international consulting or adjacent multi-disciplinary professional services/advisory environment is essential. The role holder will also be expected to have experience of promoting technology enabled solutions either in a consulting or vendor environment
  • Held a marketing leadership role, with a business unit, service-line, industry, or similar operating context; successfully drove consistent, sustainable change which positively impacted business performance
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of bringing the full range of off-line/on-line marketing tools to shape the marketing funnel, including content generation, pro-active outreach, and digital activation
  • Collaborative team-player and creative problem-solver with the ability to "make things happen" in a matrixed environment. Always curious to identify where marketing can make a difference, improve what's gone before and turn ideas into action
  • Inclination to identify and promote the best qualities of your organization, your practice, and the team
  • Comfortable working with challenging senior leaders, including offering ideas, opinions, and confidently presenting different perspectives and viewpoints
  • Proactive and responsive; able to juggle multiple large and complex projects under time pressure and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Keen eye for differentiation. Ability to quickly study competitors and recommend ideas that position AlixPartners with differentiation
  • Experience directing and developing team members
  • Able to exercise independent judgment and take the initiative to identify opportunities
  • Experience of managing, deploying, and measuring significant budget spend
  • High level of PowerPoint skill - ability to take ambiguous ideas and turn around a compelling slide or storyline
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Comfort writing marketing copy on the spot or with a quick turn
  • Experience with the following is a plus: consulting sales, video production, targeted digital advertising, LinkedIn promotion, Twitter promotion, TikTok promotion, live events, email & alliance marketing, livestream platforms, influencer marketing, webinars, podcasts
  • Willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise; able to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday

Employees will also receive a generous paid leave policy including vacation/personal time starting at 7.34 hours per pay period, sick time up to 80 hours annually, parental leave, and twelve holidays.

The salary range for this role considers a number of factors and is between $200,000/annually - $230,000/annually with potential eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
