Your Opportunity: Taylor Corporation is looking for an Engineering Manager.

Your Responsibilities:

Accountability/Relationship Management:

  • Collaborate with business unit leaders, peers, and stakeholder teams across the enterprise to identify and prioritize opportunities to introduce efficiencies through machine automation.
  • Drive process integration with key partner teams across the enterprise to execute a multi-year roadmap for process improvement throughout the organization; including areas to invest in machines, processes and technology demonstrating the benefits to the organization.
  • Direct the development of new concepts from the initial design research and development into feasibility studies to determine if concepts are capable of functioning as intended.
  • Drive resource capacity and demand planning for the engineering team to align the availability of staff with the needs of the enterprise.
  • Interface directly with management, clients, internal project teams, multiple engineering disciplines, functional leaders, subcontractors, and support personnel to report progress, costs, schedule and risks.

Innovation/Strategic Thinking:

  • Seek new opportunities, methods, trends, capabilities, and designs for the advancement of process improvements and align those to business benefits including the Return on Investment (ROI).
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industrial engineering best practices, collaborating with the operations organization in the formation of strategic approaches to exploit technology, skills and methods driving significant impact to the bottom line through facility process improvements.
  • Guide the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, financial improvements, technology and processes.

Quality and Performance Management:

  • Design and deploy a Center of Excellence strategy around process optimization and drive it with a continuous improvement mentality to ensure optimization deliverance.
  • Define and adopt quality standards that hold the team accountable for meeting the standards through quantitative measures.
  • Demonstrate competence with relevant project management, organization, and collaboration techniques to provide clarity of roles and expectations to drive overall project quality and outcomes.
  • Oversee the creation of standard operating procedures.

Organizational Development:

  • Drive a fun, high-performing work culture aligned with Taylor's Guiding Principles, and provide leadership for the engineering team to grow, thrive and deliver results to the business.
  • Lead the engineering team through resource planning, project planning, budgeting, career development and recruitment of future talent.
  • Coach, support, and delegate to empower the team.
  • Get "hands on" when appropriate to both serve as model for expected performance and to remove obstacles impeding the team.

Project Management:

  • Define and manage project schedule workflows to drive opportunity intake, prioritization, and delivery to keep all stakeholders informed throughout and measure the results.
  • Manage projects by monitoring risks as they become known and prepare mitigation plans for each of these risks.
  • Facilitate project meetings to manage the documentation and communication needs for the team.
  • Forecast resource and skill set needs and track spending for the projects.
  • Responsible for overall project performance as well as managing the scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance including activities sub-contracted.
  • Ensure project costs, cash flow timing, schedules, scope, and metrics are managed, including the development of recovery plans, to stay within approved limits and track Return on Investment (ROI).

You Must Have:

  • B.S. degree in related field such as engineering, technology or technical science
  • 5+ years related experience or combination of education and experience
  • Experience preferred utilizing lean concepts implementing DMAIC practices through Six Sigma
  • Experience translating communicated ideas into robust project plans among diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to objectively evaluate and challenge the status quo and leverage the right methodologies to accelerate progress
  • Effective planning and organization skills including the proven ability to work against multiple objectives simultaneously
  • Highly knowledgeable and skilled with systems including MS Office, MS Project, Minitab
  • Highly skilled in establishing strategic relationships with various stakeholders and customers by understanding their needs and aligning the capabilities of the engineering team, coordinating multiple functions across the organization
  • Strong leadership, communication, and critical thinking skills
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and practices
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

We Would Also Prefer:

  • Experience leading large technical projects: PMP certification
  • P&L experience
