Job Description

Johnson Controls' Wichita operation designs, builds and distributes around one million pieces of residential heating and cooling equipment every year. Johnson Controls Wichita builds and assembles some of the biggest HVAC brands in the industry, including York, Luxaire, Coleman, Champion and Guardian.

The primary manufacturing campus sits on 63 acres with a total of 1.3 million square feet. It has also translated into large employment growth in Wichita, where its workforce is around 1,600 employees which is up nearly 22 percent year over year. The Wichita manufacturing facility is the largest non-aircraft manufacturing plant in Wichita.

Maintenance Supervisor positions are salaried; however, they are eligible for straight overtime. In addition, this position is eligible for an 8% shift differential and a targeted 10% annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

The Maintenance Supervisor will supervise and coordinate activities of the Maintenance team engaged in maintaining and repairing production equipment and processes.

How you will do it

  • Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance department and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

  • Plans, directs and delegates responsibilities and assignments to maintain uninterrupted production, product quality schedules and manufacturing costs.

  • Communicates status of equipment and projects with supervisors, managers and engineers.

  • Develops aggressive project schedules and realistic cost estimates that are executed as defined to support the requirements of the business.

  • Ensures maintenance of accurate records with asset repair history and preventative maintenance schedules through CMMS software and departmental operating practices.

  • Ensures compliance with OSHA, ISO and company procedures and standards.

  • Ensures compliance with bargaining unit agreement, established safety programs and procedures within assigned area of responsibility.

  • Develops predictive maintenance program with current technological tools and data analysis.

  • Coordinates and participates in general administrative and technical programs such as cost reduction, communications, methods and training.

  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.

  • Carries work instructions from previous shift.

  • Other duties may be assigned.

What we look for

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one (1) year of Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment OR an Associate degree and a minimum of six (6) years of Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Ability to work 2nd shift (2:30PM-11:00PM).

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of industrial maintenance equipment.

  • Experience in project and budget management.

  • Knowledge of the methods, practices, tools, equipment, material and safety procedures used in the repair and maintenance of mechanical, electrical and instrument equipment used in manufacturing and distribution facilities.
