Compensation: $32 an hour
Worksite Location: NCAT Campus

Overview / Job Summary:
The primary responsibility of an Adjunct Instructor is to provide the coordination, planning, preparation, presentation, and evaluation of classroom instruction and related activities. The instructor is responsible for performing assigned duties during the day, evening, or weekend on any Wichita Area Technical College campus/off-campus locations as assigned. At a minimum, the related activities include instruction, instructional counseling, academic planning, serving on various committees, recruiting, participating in local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations as needed. An instructor performs all duties as directed by the Program Director, Associate Dean, Dean, Vice President of Academic Affairs, or the President.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to:
 
  • Files an appropriate course syllabus for each course taught within the course shell of the appropriate Learning Management System.
  • Ensures that each program/class contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency.
  • Maintains a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulates enthusiasm for those subjects
  • Recommends textbooks and other instructional materials including classroom and laboratory equipment to Deans
  • Makes suggestions to the department Dean, concerning the improvement of the curriculum in keeping with the objectives of the college.
  • Keeps students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in discipline or subfield OR Associate Degree with minimum of 1,000 hours experience in career/technical field OR 4,000 hours worked in career/technical field
Preferred Experience & Skills:
  • Four years or the equivalent of four years full-time work experience in the industry, preferred.
  • Extensive experience with following preferred:
    • Electronics
    • Industrial Wiring
    • Motors & Motor Controls
    • Programmable Logic Controls
    • Instrumentation
    • Industrial Fluid Power
    • Manufacturing Automation Concepts
  • Teaching experience in adult education preferred.

Additional Requirements:
  • Must be available for required course assignments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to work with students,
  • technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Ability to use personal computer and software applications.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to process, enter and audit data accurately and quickly
